Sounds pretty sound, but I'd like to point out that you don't even need to have an MX record to attract spammers. If you have an SMTP server on the internet, with only an IP address, someone is bound to find it and (try to) use it sooner or later (eg. portscanners).

Your mx record is an easy prey, and you need to be aware of that!

Using a single MX is a solution, but not the best - I'd still like to control both. The moral should be that you should have the same level of security on both your public servers.
